Journal of African Theatre, Film and Media Discourse
We welcome research papers hinged on Theatre Arts / drama, Film and Media studies / Communication that will help shed light on the role/s played by social, psychological, political, artistic, religious, linguistic, economic and technical factors in the processes of genre-formation, particularly when set against historical and cultural contexts.
On 18th & 19th February, the Department of film and Theatre Arts hosted a workshop entitled: “Linking Theatre Academia and Practice”. The workshop was attended by more than 50 participants representing various theatre companies, guilds, institutions of higher learning, Government and development partners.
Four years running, KU won top honours at the Metropolitan and Kenya Schools and Colleges National Drama Festival held in March (Nairobi) and April 2016 (Meru) respectively. Most significantly, three years in a row, KU won the coveted best play award.
From 23rd-29th May, the department of Film and Theatre Arts hosted Dr. Zoe Zontou, a visiting Researcher from Liverpool Hope University. During the one week visit, Dr. Zontou took students and staff through a number of seminars on Applied Theatre.
On 26th August 2016, the School held a workshop for all Graduate students in the School in to update them on new developments in Graduate studies and to hone their skills to meet challenges of graduate studies.
